The Learning Management System for AI Literacy

Training in AI literacy—the responsible and lawful use of artificial intelligence— is mandatory for all businesses, institutions, and schools in Europe starting in August 2026.

The head of the organisation, whether public or private, is the first person required to undergo training regarding decisions on the adoption of AI. Consequently, for example in an educational institution, the headteacher is also the person responsible for organising training for staff (teachers) and other stakeholders (students).

However, while many large companies—which have in-house legal and training departments—have already implemented AI literacy courses, the majority of small and medium-sized enterprises, public agencies, and schools have not yet fulfilled their training requirements. The AI LITERACY LABS platform was designed to enable the large-scale delivery of AI literacy training

An AI Literacy Platform

Carraro LAB has developed “AI-LITERACY LABS”, an interactive learning platform designed not only to meet training requirements but also to tailor the training modules themselves.

Any company adopting AI solutions is considered a user (Deployer) and is required to follow the guidelines of the AI Act, adapting them for the application of AI within its sector. The “AI-LITERACY LABS” platform also includes specific proprietary technologies developed by Carraro LAB.

The AI Literacy Labs platform is cross-device and can be used on PCs, smartphones, tablets, and virtual reality headsets.

The AI LITERACY LABS platform was designed for use in individual asynchronous online training. However, it has also proven effective in supporting webinars and in-person courses.

The video explains the legal basis of the regulation, which stems from the European AI Act, and how it should be interpreted.

AI Literacy for technological and professional sectors

Training must be organised within the companies in which they will be working, which in turn may belong to different economic sectors, each presenting further specific risks relevant to the European AI Act. For example, in the education, culture, tourism, media or local government sectors.

AI workplace. The new working environment with AI, robots and new professions

A section of AI Literacy Labs is dedicated to understanding the implications of AI use in businesses, at an organisational and administrative level, in customer relations, and in the development of new services. These involve simulations of work environments such as hotels, restaurants, schools, travel agencies, museums, tourist information points and factories, where artificial intelligence technologies, forms of intelligent robotics and people who have expanded their professional roles thanks to AI.

AI tools - From Education to EduAction

The final section of the AI Literacy Labs platform consists of an up-to-date observatory on artificial intelligence applications that can be used across various economic sectors. A series of video fact sheets present the main types of applications, for example in tourism, hospitality services, dynamic pricing, accessibility and sustainability, machine translation, travel personalisation, overtourism management, online reputation management… From these fact sheets, users can then access tutorials on specific solutions already available on the market, organised in an educational format thanks to the Future Watch platform. Where trial versions are available, users can directly test certain AI solutions. In this way, the focus shifts from education to action, towards the informed and efficient adoption of artificial intelligence in businesses.

AI City: The Age of Artificial Intelligence

The AI City environment was developed to provide digital citizenship education in the age of AI. It is a virtual city where users can explore the risks and benefits of AI applications in society. By exploring the town square, the office, the school, the hospital, and the home, users encounter information about new technologies and their impact on daily life, democracy, the media, work, and education

Ethics and education: the AI-book Homo Extensus

Carraro LAB has developed ‘Homo Extensus’, an AI-book available free of charge online, dedicated to the ethical and educational aspects of AI, with philosophical and social insights. Within Homo Extensus, there are also some concise guidelines on the application of AI in professional sectors.
